Media Education & Training
BNN’s education programs challenge you to explore, experience, and create. BNN offers small class sizes, committed educators, state-of-the-art equipment and a newly outfitted facility. For a nominal fee, Boston residents and organizations that serve Boston can take workshops from our roster of classes.
Whether you are older or younger, you can learn to create media projects from your beginning idea to the edited product. Or, you can hone your skills with tutorials and short workshops. BNN has workshops in all aspects of pre-production, production, post-production and media literacy. In BNN’s media lab, equipped with the latest software programs, you learn to edit video programs, compose a soundtrack and create a DVD. You can also learn to create all the elements for a website.
BNN's goal is to provide you with the training you need to communicate using media technology. Members create TV programs for cablecast on our channels, and create multimedia projects for distribution on the web. We also provide special media programs for youth. Please see our roster of classes below and choose the BNN training program that best suits your needs.
Upcoming Workshops
In eleven class sessions, learn the basics of using the Community TV Studio to create your own programming and to help other producers with their productions. In the first seven class sessions, we cover pre-production, producing, directing, scripting, interviewing, studio cameras, audio, lighting and character generator. In the final four sessions, produce your project and assist other producers with their projects, to complete your Studio Producer Certification.
Learn to tell a story using the medium of television in this 12-session workshop that combines field production training and Basic Final Cut Pro editing. Learn the fundamentals of camera operations, shot composition, basic lighting and audio. Explore concepts of editing while developing an understanding of media management. Gain practical experience and work as part of a team to produce short video projects that will be shown on BNN channels and website.
